Beginners’ Courses

No experience of yoga is required for the beginners courses, which are structured to gently introduce students into the concepts and practice of Hatha yoga. Emphasis is on relaxation, correct breathing, strength and flexibility, whilst aligning the body. The beginners courses will teach you the basic postures and you will work with students of the same level. Care is taken with students who have back pain, injuries or a medical condition. You will be shown simple, effective postures to help treat these disorders. These courses are also suitable for pregnant women.

Clear and precise instructions and demonstrations are given by the teachers and students find they progress quickly. Positive changes take place in their mind and body, they feel good and get results. It is highly recommended to do two beginners courses in a row.

All beginners courses are Hatha/Iyengar yoga based. Hatha and Iyengar yoga are dynamic, powerful and safe approaches to yoga, utilising the yoga postures to tone and strengthen the body, whilst calming and training the mind. With extra emphasis and detail to precision in postures, correct anatomical alignment, strength, flexibility, relaxation and the meditative nature of the physical postures.

Each course runs for 7 weeks, one class per week, and costs $150 (non-refundable/non-transferable). Registration and payment required 1 week before commencement of course. Please make cheques payable to ‘The Yoga Company’ and send with your completed registration form to The Yoga Company. Your place is reserved upon receipt of payment and registration form. You will only be contacted if course is full. Early registration is suggested as these courses fill quickly.

  • Testimonials

“Not only do I believe that there are physical benefits from such a program, but there are clearly benefits associated with the intensity and focus that yoga - as taught by Linda - can have on athletes.
Linda has a firm and thorough, yet flexible approach to teaching yoga and her manner and tone as an instructor is clear and unambiguous. It is because of her disciplined approach to her craft that I believe Linda's sessions assist in the mental preparation and development of our team.
It is without reservation that I can recommend Linda's contribution to any group which seeks the physical and mental benefits that Linda, as a teacher of yoga, can offer.”
